Summer Job at Miva – Make a Difference This Summer!

Water and sewage, along with waste and recycling, are part of our everyday life.

Our main tasks are concrete, but it is also in our industry that major investments are made. This is necessary because an important part of our infrastructure needs to function both today and far into the future.

We are passionate about environmental issues – whether it is about how we detoxify the cycle or how we can make it easier for our customers to sort waste correctly. Waste will always exist, and someone must take care of it in the best way.

We are now looking for several seasonal sanitation workers and summer substitutes for our Waste and Recycling Operations unit, who want to contribute when our regular staff takes a well-deserved vacation.

The positions are suitable for both those looking for an active seasonal or summer job and those studying at a college or university in areas such as environment, engineering, urban planning, or similar, who want to gain valuable insight into municipal operations.

About the Job

As a sanitation worker at our recycling centers in Örnsköldsvik and surrounding areas, you play an important role in interacting with our customers. You help create a safe, well-functioning, and well-maintained recycling center where visitors receive support in sorting correctly.

The work is varied, mobile, and largely outdoors. You work together with colleagues in a team where collaboration and safety are central. The work may also involve evening and weekend shifts.

Examples of Tasks:

  • Guide and assist customers in sorting their waste correctly
  • Ensure that the recycling centers are clean, safe, and pleasant
  • General maintenance of the facilities, such as basic landscaping
  • Collaboration with colleagues for efficient and safe operations

For those interested and who have a higher driving license than B or documented training certificate for a wheel loader (C2), there may also be opportunities for other tasks.

Who Are You?

We are looking for someone who enjoys practical work and interacting with people. You do not need to have worked in waste and recycling before – we value motivation, responsibility, and the willingness to learn.

Basic Requirements:

  • B driving license for manual transmission, as the work involves moving between different facilities
  • Sufficient knowledge of Swedish to understand safety regulations, work instructions, and communicate with customers and colleagues

Personal Qualities:

  • You are service-oriented and treat people with respect
  • You take responsibility for your work and contribute to a safe work environment
  • You have an interest in the environment, sustainability, and recycling

Meritorious:

  • Experience in a role where you have actively helped, guided, or served customers or other people, such as in customer service, retail, healthcare, or social care
  • C driving license
  • Documented training certificate for a wheel loader (C2)

What Do We Offer?

  • A meaningful job that contributes to a sustainable society
  • A structured introduction with support from experienced colleagues
  • A varied workday in an engaged and inclusive team that has fun together
  • Opportunity to combine work with studies
  • Good balance between work and leisure

We Are Miva, Miva Is Us

Miva's operations are one of the cornerstones of society, making our work important and meaningful. We offer a stimulating and creative environment, clear and measurable goals, and realistic demands and challenges that lay the foundation for doing good work. Through participation and responsibility, you contribute to the development of the operations.

Based on our annual employee surveys, we can proudly state that our staff is happy and thrives with us. The opportunity for a balance between work and leisure is significant. This also leads to a high willingness to recommend us as an employer.

Our customers are also satisfied with us. Year after year, we receive high ratings in our customer surveys. This is not something we take for granted, but we are convinced that our engaged employees play a significant role in making everyone's everyday life function. Every day, all year round.
